EfficientIP IPAM Data Reconciliation Demo

Get the latest news, invites to events, and much more

Watch this demo to learn how EfficientIP reconciles discovered network and cloud data with IPAM records to identify inconsistencies, remediate conflicts, and maintain accurate DNS, DHCP, and IP address information across hybrid environments.

In This Demo, You Will Learn How:

  • Detect discrepancies between discovered network data and IPAM records
  • Remediate duplicate or conflicting MAC and IP address information
  • Automatically add missing IP addresses and networks into IPAM
  • Synchronize discovered cloud and physical network assets with SOLIDserver
  • Improve DNS, DHCP, and IPAM data accuracy across hybrid infrastructures

Introduction

0:04
Hello.

0:05
Welcome to the EfficientIP Remediation demo.

0:07
Today I will show you how to remediate what has been discovered on networks and what has been registered in IP Address Management when there are differences.

0:17
Let’s log in.

Cloud Observer Remediation

0:22
Let’s go to Cloud Observer first.

0:24
Cloud Observer is a discovery function within SOLIDserver to discover information on networks, clouds, virtualized items, and managed networks.

0:36
In our environment, we have some VMware and Meraki data that is already discovered.

0:41
We have some instances, networks, and a bunch of other data.

0:45
But today we’re going to focus on the remediation of it.

0:47
So if you go to the remediation section of Cloud Observer, you immediately see there is some information that is discovered and not in IPAM, for example, missing IP addresses.

1:00
But there’s also some problematic information on MAC addresses.

1:03
So we have something in IPAM that is different on the network or vice versa.

MAC Address Conflict Remediation

1:08
Let’s go to the different MAC address first because this can potentially be a big problem.

1:12
Different MAC addresses could mean there is a duplicate IP address on the network.

1:17
A duplicate IP address on the network means that IP address will not work properly.

1:21
If it’s a printer, service, or application, this can become problematic.

1:25
Or it may simply be a device that has been replaced because it was broken.

1:32
Let’s click edit to remediate.

1:34
We give you a warning to indicate that you’re about to overwrite information in IPAM, which can impact DNS and DHCP if the discovered information is incorrect or illegitimate.

1:52
If you’re absolutely sure the discovered information is correct, you click accept.

2:01
The different MAC address issue is now resolved.

Missing IP Address Reconciliation

2:18
Let’s find the missing IP address.

2:24
This IP is not currently in IPAM.

2:26
We can click the add button to add it automatically.

2:29
Some information is required to ensure you understand the impact of modifying IPAM data.

2:41
In this case, everything looks correct.

2:46
The issue is now resolved.

2:58
The IP address is now present in IPAM with all the discovered information.

Network Reconciliation with NetChange

3:07
These are IP address-related remediations, but we can also perform network remediation.

3:11
We use NetChange for this.

3:13
Similar to Cloud Observer, NetChange discovers network devices, ports, and related infrastructure information.

3:25
We also have a remediation section here similar to Cloud Observer.

3:30
Cloud Observer focuses more on virtualized and cloud environments, while NetChange focuses on physical networks.

3:39
We can remediate issues at the network level.

3:46
You can see several missing networks.

3:48
This network should not be missing, so we want to add it.

3:52
You click add.

3:53
You can define whether the network can still be subnetted further.

4:01
You press OK.

4:03
The network disappears from the remediation list.

4:08
And it is now visible in IPAM subnets.

Conclusion

4:14
It is very easy to remediate and update IPAM with discovered information or correct discrepancies through a single-pane-of-glass approach.

4:28
I recommend reviewing the other Cloud Observer and NetChange videos to learn more about the discovery process itself.

4:41
Thank you for your time.

4:42
I hope this was useful. Bye bye.
