Efficientip and Servicenow Integration Streamline Workflows

The EfficientIP and ServiceNow integration is further enhanced by the ability to leverage IPAM data in ServiceNow’s ITSM Flow Designer, enabling ITOps to streamline workflows, reduce network management complexity, and eliminate IP configuration errors.

The new EfficientIP and ServiceNow integration is now available between EfficientIP’s SOLIDserver DDI and ServiceNow’s ITSM workflow solution, enabling the seamless use of IPAM data in ServiceNow business workflows. Using Flow Designer and the EfficientIP SOLIDserver spoke, ITOps teams can automate processes easily for change management, troubleshooting and incident resolution, and service delivery.

Why Integrate with ServiceNow’s ITSM

Organizations are increasingly utilizing ServiceNow’s IT Service Management (ITSM) solution to initiate and track internal service requests for change management, troubleshooting and incident handling, or service delivery. As part of the Now platform comes Flow Designer that lets ITOps teams automate business processes without the need of complex code by exposing a library of reusable flows, subflows, and actions. Using these components, users can design and build new flows that consist of a composite set of actions and subflows, and streamline business workflows to reduce repetitive tasks.

IP address management (IPAM) is a critical component of any IT service automation workflow. By integrating ServiceNow ITSM with EfficientIP’s IPAM – part of its DDI (DNS-DHCP-IPAM) solution – organizations can increase efficiency. Leveraging SOLIDserver REST APIs, this integration allows teams to seamlessly incorporate IPAM data into their ITSM workflows, ensuring that network changes are context-aware and automated. From self-service provisioning of network resources to service change automation, this approach streamlines change management and drives greater network agility.

Easy Startup with EfficientIP SOLIDserver Spoke

By installing and using EfficientIP SOLIDserver Spoke from within Flow Designer, network and ITOps teams can access a catalog of actions that can be used to design new, reusable flows or subflows to build digital workflows and automate processes in a no-code design environment.

When creating a subflow such as Create Network, as in the example below, you can easily add inputs such as asking the user for a space name.

The next step is to quickly add actions by selecting from the EfficientIP SOLIDserver Spoke list. As an example, add a space to the EfficientIP IPAM using the name entered as input earlier.

Testing capability is natively available from the ServiceNow Flow Design. It allows you to test your newly created flows or subflows leveraging the SOLIDserver integration. As shown in the example below, you can check that your newly requested space named “test01” has been effectively created in the EfficientIP IPAM module.

Rich Library of Actions to Reduce Workload

The set of actions in the SOLIDserver Spoke covers a wide range of functions including but not limited to:

  • Create Space, Block, Subnet, Pool, IP Address, or Alias
  • Delete Space, Block, Subnet, Pool, IP Address, or Alias
  • Find free IP address or network
  • Allocate an IP address after having found a free one
  • Create a pool of IP addresses
  • Get information on a network using the search function
  • Add specific metadata or class such as location, cost center, zone…

Combining these actions streamlines business workflows and automates key processes for service, application, and infrastructure deployment, as well as network and device provisioning. It also ensures that IPAM data remains synchronized maintaining a Network Source of Truth (NSoT). Organizations benefit from:

  • Simplified IP resource management across distributed networks
  • Faster service rollouts with automated provisioning
  • Enforced corporate policies to ensure compliance and governance
  • Accurate, up-to-date network configurations for ensured service uptime
  • Consistent visibility and control across the entire infrastructure

This automation significantly reduces manual effort, minimizes errors, and improves operational efficiency, making it easier for IT teams to successfully deploy and operate major digital initiatives across both platforms.

Conclusion

By integrating EfficientIP’s SOLIDserver DDI with ServiceNow ITSM, organizations can seamlessly incorporate IPAM data into their workflows, enhancing automation and network agility. The rich library of prebuilt actions in the SOLIDserver Spoke enables ITOps teams to streamline processes, reduce repetitive tasks, and maintain full control over IP resources. As IT environments grow in complexity, this integration provides a scalable and efficient solution to drive business continuity and digital transformation initiatives while connecting the ecosystem.
